We will do the things others are not
And he rose and immediately picked up his bed and went out before them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying,
“We never saw anything like this!”- Mark 2:12
What Makes Us Different Keeps Us Significant: There are a few things you may see different at The Avenue, and that is on purpose and for a purpose. You may notice some people don't dress, act, or talk like most "church people", and the reason is that for many people The Avenue is the first church many have gone to. We make it a point to make The Avenue a place where people who are new to the Christian Faith can grow in grace without having the fear or "doing it wrong"

go to places others will not
And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and his disciples. Matthew 9:10
Jesus found himself in many places few Rabbis would dare to go. Sometimes the most powerful stories of redemptions come from the darkest places we just have to be willing to take the light of Christ to them. The Avenue meets people where they are, jails, crackhouses, or just the grocery store.

love the people others do not
But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind... Luke 14:13
Every person is made in the image of God and deserves to be loved. Loving people takes more than an hour on Sundays and that is why we are a church that puts an emphasis on having relationship with people. Many of the people at our church have social and cultural labels such as poor, addict, handicapped, felon, but we refuse to label people based on outward appearance, past experiences, or current struggles. We love others because Christ loves us.
